Privacy Policy
This policy covers ChessPuzzles.io and the Chess Puzzles mobile apps for iOS and Android, including Chess Puzzles: Tactics Trainer and Chess Puzzles & Tactics (together, the Service). It explains what information is processed, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
View PDF privacy policy1. Information we process
The information processed depends on the features you use. You can play as a guest; guest progress and activity can still be associated with an anonymous account or app installation.
- Account information: your account identifier, name, email address, profile image, sign-in provider and session information. Email sign-in also uses a protected password credential. Google or Apple sign-in provides the profile information you authorize.
- Gameplay and preferences: puzzle attempts, moves, results, ratings, history, review progress, offline downloads, reward unlocks, language and gameplay settings.
- Usage and diagnostics: pages or screens visited, feature interactions, advertising events, errors, app and operating-system versions, device or browser information, IP addresses and account or installation identifiers. We use PostHog for analytics and diagnostics; website diagnostics can include session replays of page interactions.
- Purchases: store, product and transaction identifiers, purchase verification information and ad-free entitlement status. Apple and Google process store payments; we do not receive your full payment-card details.
- Notifications and support: push-notification tokens and reminder preferences when reminders are enabled, plus feedback, messages and images you choose to send us.
2. How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the Service, authenticate accounts, save and synchronize progress, personalize puzzle practice, provide offline features and rewards, verify purchases, deliver requested reminders, respond to support requests, measure use and reliability, and improve the Service.
Advertising information is also used to fund optional rewarded features, select and deliver ads, measure their performance, and detect fraud. Where consent is required for a particular use, we request it through the applicable consent or device-permission flow.
3. AdMob, Unity Ads and rewarded advertising
The mobile apps use Google AdMob to request rewarded ads. AdMob mediation can also select Unity Ads to supply an ad in versions that include the Unity integration. Providers and ad availability can vary by app version, region, consent choices and configuration.
Google and Unity advertising SDKs may process advertising or app/device identifiers, IP addresses and approximate location, device and app information, ad views, clicks and other interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. This supports ad delivery, measurement, security and, where permitted by your choices and applicable requirements, personalized advertising.
Advertising partners may combine information with information from other apps or services for their own advertising purposes, as described in their policies. They may act as independent controllers of information they receive. Sharing for personalized advertising may be considered a sale, sharing or targeted advertising under some privacy laws.
Watching a rewarded ad is optional. The Service records whether the reward was earned so it can grant the relevant feature or content. Declining personalization does not necessarily remove all ads; contextual, non-personalized or limited ads may still be available.
4. Your advertising and device choices
The mobile app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to display applicable advertising privacy messages. You can accept or decline the available purposes and partners. In versions supporting Unity mediation, the app passes the applicable choices to Unity before requesting mediated ads and refreshes them when you change your privacy choices.
When available for your region and account, reopen the controls from the puzzle screen's settings: choose Gameplay, open the menu on the Offline puzzles card, then select Privacy choices. Labels may be translated. Use that form to change or withdraw consent or exercise an available advertising opt-out. If the controls are unavailable and you need help with a privacy request, contact us.
On iOS, you can change the app's tracking permission in device Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, you can use your device's advertising privacy controls. These device settings and the in-app advertising choices serve different purposes. Turning off personalized advertising does not by itself delete an account or stop all operational analytics and diagnostics.
You can also manage notification permissions through your device settings and reminder preferences in the app. Unity provides additional privacy controls through the privacy icon shown in its ads and through its privacy resources.
6. Cookies and device storage
The website and apps use cookies or device storage to maintain sign-in sessions, remember preferences, identify an installation, save consent choices and support offline play. Analytics and advertising services can also use identifiers or similar technologies as described above. Clearing browser or app storage may remove preferences, guest progress or downloaded content and may require you to sign in again.
7. Retention and account deletion
We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including operating your account, resolving support issues, security, purchase verification and applicable legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information and why it is needed; advertising and other providers apply their own retention practices.
Signed-in mobile users can choose Delete account from the account menu. You can also contact us to request deletion. Account deletion removes the account and associated rating and puzzle history. Some records, including purchase verification records used to prevent transaction reuse or fraud, may remain after the account is deleted. Provider-held records, backups and information retained for security or legal reasons may have separate retention periods.
Uninstalling the app alone does not delete server-side account information. To exercise rights over information held independently by an advertising provider, use that provider's linked privacy resources or contact us for help.
8. Privacy requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of certain advertising uses. Contact us using the email below to make a request or ask about a decision on your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already occurred lawfully. You may also have the right to complain to a privacy regulator in your jurisdiction.
9. Security and international processing
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. The Service and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries with different privacy laws. Where required, applicable transfer safeguards govern that processing.
10. Children
Chess Puzzles is a general-audience service. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization or consent, please contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Service or its privacy practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
The Service is operated by Sajed Nahian. For questions, privacy requests or complaints, email chesspuzzlesapp@gmail.com.
